The ‘Feeling Years’ at Ananda’s Living Wisdom™ School

Recently a second grade student transferred from a public school.  When her mother asked her how she liked her new school, her daughter responded by saying :“Oh Mother, in my old school it felt like this (taking her arms and pulling them protectively around her) and in my new school it feels like this (taking her arms and flinging them out wide)”.

Students thrive in our indoor- outdoor classrooms, in the freedom of following their own interests and the success that comes when students learn new concepts when their readiness for them is at it’s peak.  We have been refining experiential activities for 37 years that lead to students learning such universal human values as kindness, cooperation and truthfulness.

The Curriculum includes:

• Wonder, awe, appreciation and reverence for life are fostered through our Science studies combined with extended times in nature. Our students develop trust, caring and a sense of purpose in life.
• Clear communication, imagination, creativity and the development of intuition, are integrated into the curriculum as a means of exploring and gaining an understanding of the entire world.
• Orderliness, stability, security, and clear thinking are developed through the study of Math, logic and grammar
• Calmness, concentration, and energy control are outcomes of our physical education, meditation and yoga periods
• Empathy and the desire to strive to reach our own full potential come from the study of inspiring historical figures and events
• Inner peace and cooperation come naturally as students experience a growing sense of harmony with themselves, their teachers, and those around them.

Grades 1-6 are for children ages 6-12. School meets Monday-Friday from 8:30-2:30. We invite you to call and arrange a visit to our school and time to talk with our dynamic teachers.
