What LWHS teens are saying about Yoga & Meditation...

Yoga and Meditation is part of the daily curriculum at Living Wisdom High School (LWHS). Teens do yoga, meditation, and energization exercises from 30-45 minutes at the beginning of each day at the high school.

“I think that yoga has affected me in a lot of good ways. I almost always feel calm and nice after yoga or meditation.”
—LWHS teenage boy

“The daily periods of yoga and meditation help me to clarify the whole day, it helps me to focus and helps me with “self-discovery”. During yoga, I can “send light into the spots that hurt and that helps through the whole day to learn to be still. Meditation provides me with clarity and peace for learning.”
—LWHS teenage boy

“In the morning we have yoga and meditation. I’m feeling really good because I’m more awake after this. It’s really silent here; I think it’s better for learning. It’s a different school where you can make new expressions.”
—LWHS teenage boy

“Meditation helps me calm down and start the morning that way. I love doing deep relaxation because it helps me focus my mind. I like doing chants because I like to think about what they mean. Then the chants usually get stuck in my mind and I sing them silently.”—LWHS teenage girl“When we meditate in class it’s a good way to start the day. It helps my stress and tiredness from the morning and gets me into a calm mode.”

“During meditation, I sometimes go into a deep sort of non-conscious feeling, like the whole world is spinning and it suddenly stops. It’s nice and warm, like swimming in a lighted pool with the warm water sliding over my body and the light twinkling and shining on every part of my being.”
—LWHS teenage boy

“Energization Exercises helps me think better during the day and they also make me feel better and not so tired.”
—LWHS teenage girl

“I like yoga because it helps my energy. I try to meditate but I sometimes have trouble calming my mind and slowing down my thoughts. If I can’t concentrate, I talk to God about what’s going on in my life and ask him to help me with certain things like temper, not to argue, and other things.”
—LWHS teenage boy

“Meditation calms me down and makes me feel good.”
—LWHS teenage boy

“Meditation feels good because you get to be more in tune with God.”
—LWHS teenage girl

“I think that when we meditate as a class it calms us down a lot. I wouldn’t be surprised if it helps our whole day be more harmonious.”
