The Living Wisdom School and Education for Life Movement
The first Living Wisdom School was founded in 1972
at the Ananda Community near Nevada City, California, to meet
a deeply perceived need for a more balanced educational system.
So much of education today is focused on the intellect, while
other, vitally important aspects of a child's character are neglected.
The Living Wisdom Schools were established to provide an education
for children of all faiths that would integrate body, mind, feeling,
and spirit.
The Palo
Alto Living Wisdom School was founded in 1991, the Portland
(Oregon) school in 1997, and the Seattle school in 2006. Seaside
Wisdom for Life school in Encinitas, CA is an Education for Life
School. We now have a school in Assisi, Italy and plans for one
in India.
Living Wisdom Schools are based on the educational
philosophy articulated in the book Education for Life,
