Associate of Arts degree in Yoga Philosophy

The A.A. degree in Yoga Philosophy provides students with the opportunity to explore how the ancient precepts of yoga can be effectively applied to the challenges of modern life. Students will study how yoga principles such as non-attachment, even-mindedness, and calm intuition can provide new insights into business, education, and marriage.

The two-year program includes the following required general education courses:

Area 1: Communication in the English Language – 6 units
Art of Written Expression (3 units)
Associate of Arts Individual Project (3 units)
Area 2: Mathematics – 2 units
College Math (2 units)
Area 3: Arts and Humanities – 8 units
Creativity and Self-Awareness (3 units)
Foundations of World Philosophy (3 units)
Art of Musical Expression I, II, III, & IV (2 units total)
Area 4: Social Sciences – 7 units
Directional Psychology: (2 units)
World Cultures & Consciousness I (3 units)
Introduction to Education for Life (2 units)
Area 5: Natural Sciences – 6 units
Alternative Science and Tech (3 units)
Sustainable Living (3 units)
Area 6: Foreign Language – 3 units
Spanish (3 units)
 

Students fill out the remaining units for their degree from the following courses:

Foundations of World Philosophy II, III, IV (9 units)
World Cultures and Consciousness/Study Abroad (6 units)
Material Success through Yoga Principles (3 units)
Introduction to Health and Healing (2 units)
The Art of Oral Expression (1 unit)
The Art of Dramatic Expression (1 unit)
Cooperative Spiritual Living I, II, III, & IV – 10 hours per week (4 units)
Service Learning – approximately 50 hours per year (2 units)
Physical Education – 3 hours per week, ongoing (non-credit)
Independent Study – variable units, ongoing
